From December 6th 2019, the Queensland Music Festival Youth Touring program (previously Artslink/Queensland Arts Council) will no longer manage schools bookings and tours or publish an annual program.
Arts Queensland will be continuing the legacy of the Youth Touring program through a new model to support artists and theatre companies taking incursion performances and workshops to regional Queensland.
To assist schools in this transition process, the Youth Touring website will become an online portal where schools can access information about what is happening in their area. This website has been designed to help schools connect directly with artists and arts organisations and all enquiries and bookings will need to be made with the artists, organisations or venues directly.
The staff at Youth Touring and Queensland Music Festival (and Artslink/Queensland Arts Council) have been privileged to bring Arts performances to schools state-wide and we are thankful for the support of so many teachers, administrators, students and school executives over the 55+ years of the program.
The Queensland Government recognises the important role of arts in the education of every Queensland student and have introduced a new dedicated funding stream to ensure schools (particularly regional schools) have access to quality, diverse and curriculum-linked Arts experiences.
Arts companies and artists can apply directly to Arts Queensland through the Playing Queensland Fund (PQF) to tour performances and workshops in all artforms to regional schools. They will also be able to apply through PQF for funding for artists in residence projects with regional schools.
Regional and remote schools can apply through PQF for funding to support artists in residency projects. Groups of schools can also apply together to bring a touring performance to their area, or engage an artist to undertake a residency program that spans a number of schools in the same region. For advice on this, please contact Arts Queensland on email@example.com or call 07 3034 4016.
